SHATKAVALKA returns to the airwaves at RADIO IS A FOREIGN COUNTRY with an episode prepared by researchers from the Institute of Arts at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, which is dedicated to studying the history and theory of nearly all forms of traditional Armenian art — from visual arts and architecture to applied arts, music, theatre, cinema, and television. Episode 2 focuses on the richness of Armenian traditional music across a variety of genres: work songs, epic narratives, lullabies, instrumental music, and many other expressions of this remarkable cultural heritage.
