No Himalayan mountain is the same. The same goes with Hinduism. High above sea level, there are love stories of Shiva that are danced all night long. In one of these villages, God Manu, the creator of the human race, came to take refuge from the great deluge in his boat, protected by Vishnu. These legends are told by the sounds that echo through the Himalayan mountain range. Heavy drumming, long horns, and bell orchestras bring myths into everyday realities. These field recordings were made by André Pereira in Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and Himachal Pradesh.
