CENTRAL ASIAN MOODS

Compiled by Julien Thiennot of Afghan Records Gallery, this mixtape features a selection of records, radio, and movies from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Like the Portuguese saudade heard in the music of Cabo Verde or Brazil, these recordings evoke a deep emotional state or feeling, a kind of mixture of nostalgia, melancholy, and hope, heard across different musical genres and styles of the region.
